Social Media Monitoring - QLD Health

Welcome to my blog J

We are almost getting to the destination of our Enterprise 2.0 voyage. Hooray !
Let’s keep the steam up.

This week’s task: Applying two social media monitoring tools to an organization.

I select one organization which is related to our assignments; Queensland Health.
And the social media monitoring tools which I have chosen to conduct this week’s task on are Addictomatic and Social Mention.

What is Social Media Monitoring?
It is monitoring an organization’s social media channels such as blogs, Twitter, Facebook page, Youtube, etc. for information about their business. It allows the organization to determine what customers are thinking or saying about their work, brand or topic. By using the social media monitoring tools, the organization can get huge benefits.

Addictomatic and Social mention
Both are an online social media monitoring tools which provides the latest news, blog posts, videos and images. (Twitter Search, Wordpress.com, Friendfeed, Ask.com News, Bing News, YouTube, Twingly Blog Search, Google Blog Search, Flickr, etc.)
First, I just simply entered the organization’s name which is “Queensland Health”. It was little bit difficult to determine the effective keyword to get the best results. The result came out in various social media channel with anything related to the keyword.

Addictomatic gives the opportunity to monitor recent conversations and contents about Queensland Health on many different channels. It allows the users can select the “Available Sources” they want to look at. It makes much easier to do the social media monitoring. Unfortunately, the Twitter box presents “No results found” message because Twitter likes to use really simple names. (“qld health”)
★★★★☆

Socialmention
Another useful social media monitoring platform is socialmention. The user only need to do is just enter the name of an organization like “Queensland Health”. It is really easy to use; however my experience is not as good as “Addictomatic”.  Because the layout is little bit messy but the good thing is a diagram, graph and chart on the left hand side. It is nice and clear to identify all of the results in some categories.
★★★☆☆

Addictomatic offers a bigger portfolio of different results. On the other hands, socialmention has much better features to analyze the topic.
These kind of social media monitoring tools are really important to organization’s marketing aspect.

This is my end today and I hope you enjoyed my blog post.
See you next time!

The Electronics Giant SAMSUNG

Welcome back again all my readers to read my blog post!! J

This is my 8th blog post already. Hooray!!

It is a little bit cold and rainy outside today, so I feel like I will stay inside and post about today’s topic. In my previous blog post, I have covered ‘how different types of organizations can benefit from social technology using McKinsey’s 10 value levers’. So, this time I will be talking about how social media such as blog, facebook, twitter and using wiki can support the business within the professional services sector to enhance their value levers such as product development, operations and distribution, marketing and sales, and business support functions.

The organization to be discussed today will be Samsung.

South Korean electronics giant Samsung is a South Korean multinational conglomerate company. Samsung Telecommunications is one of five business units within Samsung Electronics, belonging to the Samsung group, and consists of the Mobile Communication Division, telecommunication systems division, computer division, MP3 business team, mobile solution centre and telecommunication R&D centre. Samsung is a market leader in consumer electronics and cell phones and for more than 70 years, Samsung has been at the forefront of innovation.

Recently, Samsung has unveiled its hotly anticipated smartwatch the Glaxy Gear, which allows users to make calls, receive texts and emails and take photos.
Samsung is the well largest smart phone maker Overtaking apple Apple in a last year.

Samsung has a relationship with social media usage and McKinsey Value lever.

The professional services sector can use social media to enhance their business to communicate with their clients and customers (knowledge sharing, customer reviews, collaboration, etc.). In this case, Samsung makes more benefits by their own social media pages, which are Facebook, Twitter and Blog.

Facebook and Twitter

https://twitter.com/SamsungMobile

Samsung use not only Facebook page but also using Twitter to talk about their business and all things product. Also, their customers are able to communicate and discuss with Samsung. Facebook page and Twitter is quietly working on a new advertising system that would let marketers target users with ads based on the massive amounts of information people reveal on the site about themselves.

Blog

Samsung already has their own global blog managed by the corporate communications team at Samsung Electronics about their culture, their works (products and services) and their people. So this official blog present exclusive information, opinions and occasional clarifications to the customers in a timely fashion.

Samsung is making great use of Enterprise 2.0 (social media) to improve value levers of their business. Blog, Facebook, and Twitter are very powerful tools for organisations to gain more attention from customers.

Thank you for reading my blog post!
see you next time

Cheers!

RSPCA using social media for all creatures great and small !!

Welcome back all of my faithful readers!! :)

This week!
I will  be talking about a non-profit organisation ...the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals) and how this organisation in the social sector can benefit from using social media, in relation to McKinsey's Global Institute.

The RSPCA is a non-profit organisation that involved with animal welfare to prevent cruelty and promote their care and protection. It runs 40 shelters and spends more than $80 million every year on the services by corporate sponsorship, fundraising events and voluntary donations. RSPCA has become a large organisation by using social media such as a Facebook, Twitter, Blog and YouTube to communicate with people and it allows the RSPCA to benefit from the following value levers.

Collect information and insights:   - Gather information
                                                     - Crowd-source resources and solutions

mobilize resources:                     - Raising money
                                                 - Expand volunteer networks

Execute mission:                        - Educate the public
                                                 - Engage supporters

▲ some of the McKinsey's levers for achieving social business value

Raising Money: RSPCA has a donation link in their social media to gain amounts of donations. It inspires all people to make donation via Facebook page.

Expand volunteer networks & Educate the public: social media is the great way to engage with supporters and educate followers about what they are doing. e.g) post upcoming events, news, etc. on the facebook page, using hash tag(Twitter).

                                    ▲ Using HashTag promoting

                                        ▲ Example of Funding

RSPCA can be a good example of non-profit organisation using social media to achieve their major goal. However, keeping volunteers engaged for continuous support can be really hard. They need to find the ways to improve their social media strategy so that they can get more supports.

Thank you for reading and See you next time :)
